Great Outdoors

I had a glorious two days off from work on Monday and Tuesday, but they could not have been more different.

I was a huge waste of space on Monday. I went grocery shopping, but that was really it. I was kind of disappointed in my laziness, but at the same time it was nice to have absolutely nothing to do.

Tuesday I continued on my tour of Charleston!

I met up with CF, Swan, and two of their friends at the South Carolina Aquarium! I’ve been there before, but not since they put in the penguin display.

You see, despite my outwardly awesome appearance, I am quite the nerd. I love aquariums and zoos and I don’t mind some muesums. I find all of it very interesting and I’ve always loved animals.

The aquarium has a bunch to see – fish, eels, turtles, seahorses, otters, jellyfish, sharks, etc. There are also partial outdoor areas with birds an walkways that overlook the harbor.

The penguins were fun to see, but my highlight didn’t even occur in the aquarium. I walked out on one of the patios to look at the Cooper River Bridge, when I noticed something splashing in the harbor below. I was shocked to see three dolphins swimming away from the aquarium. It really was an amazing thing to see.

After the awesome aquarium stop, we decided to grab some food on Shem Creek. There are a bunch of restaurants in the area and the group decided to go to Vickery’s. We sat on the patio, which was nice and breezy and had a great view of the creek. I couldn’t take my eyes off all of the shrimping boats, marshes, and water around us. It was very relaxing.

I had a Landshark and a grill mahi sandwich, which was freakin delicious.

I was back to work today, but afterwards I decided to visit a BBQ place I had heard about. It’s called Central BBQ and they cook their food fresh every day. The prices were pretty good and the food was really good. I got a pulled pork sandwich and added something called hash over rice. I had no idea what it was, but it was ok.

I’m really happy about all the new places I’ve gone and I’m excited to complete the rest of my list!

  1. I’m so jealous of your aquarium! DC is truly lacking in that department… I need to make it up to Baltimore. šŸ™‚
